Description

The classic C-101 Jeepster Commando’s clear fun factor, irresistible charm and rarity have made it a favorite among collectors. Re-introduced by Kaiser Jeep in 1967, the Jeepster was available as a convertible, roadster, pickup or wagon and could be had with either the 75-horsepower Hurricane inline-four or the 160-horsepower Dauntless V-6. The model 8701 convertible, which cost $400 more than the wagon, was more of a clone of the original 1948-1950 Jeepster Phaetons than the other models and featured two-tone paint, rear-mounted spare and fold-down convertible top. This 1968 Jeepster Commando is one of those pretty two-tone convertibles and is a fabulous example. It was sold new on December 23, 1967 at Rocky Mountain Jeep Company of Denver, Colorado and was kept in the same ownership for over two decades until 1988. It is finished in red and white and has a white convertible top, black interior, correct original five-spoke mag wheel covers, narrow whitewall tires, original AM radio and original clock on the console. This example is also desirably equipped with the 225 cubic inch Dauntless V-6 coupled to a three-speed manual transmission. The engine bay is attractively detailed. Also included with this thoughtfully preserved Jeepster Commando are the original window sticker, sales invoice, owner’s manual, warranty book and shock absorber booklet as well as repair invoices from 1968 through 1988 with a summary sheet of the repairs. The car presents a beautifully restored car, but it is a very straight, honest example that has never needed restoration. Ready to show or drive, it will continue to supply the charm and utility for which these Jeepsters are justly known and admired 1 of 442 Jeepsters Kaiser built in 1968 President Red over White Dauntless V6 W/ 3 speed Manual Original Car Invoice Original Window Sticker Original Owners Manuals Original Warranty Booklet (Protect O Book) Sold New @ Rocky Mountain Jeep Denver Co.
